About the club

Who are we?

We are a club, founded in 1982, whose aim is to stimulate interests in Anglo-German cultural and social pursuits. The club is non-profit-making and non-political and has members representing a wide age range. The German part represents all German language and culture, including Austria and Switzerland.

What do we do?

Monthly meetings are held, each with a social or cultural theme – and, whenever possible, with a happy combination of the two! Our events, open to guests, include talks on literature, history, geography, current affairs, music, archaeology, natural resources, art, people and places, plus outings and discussions. We are delighted to welcome anyone with an Anglo-German interest – even if they are in the area for only a short time.

We have reading and conversation groups for members interested in reading German literature or who wish to improve or simply practice their German in an informal atmosphere.

Who can join?

The club is open to anyone, English or German speaking, aged 16 and over.
